Frageelay: fitter. happier. more productive.
Listen, I know you might be tired of this subject because it was hashed out and rehashed yesterday but this is the first chance I’ve had to weigh in (no pun intended) and I want to say what I have to say. So skip this if you are disinterested in the whole saga about working out…
2 years ago I went to the doctor for a normal check up and had some blood work done. A week or so later my doctor called me to schedule a time for me to come in and talk about my results. Needless to say they were bad. I was 20 years old, weighed around 290 pounds and hadn’t worked out since I stopped playing football in high school but still ate like I was. Diabetes runs in my family and my doctor was pretty blunt about me being headed down that road quickly. He gave me 6 months to make a change and run another round of tests to see if it looked any better or we’d have to consider medication to help. So I dieted and worked my ass off. It was hard, it sucked, but I did it I got down to 205, a weight I hadn’t seen since my sophomore or junior year in high school. I went from about a 40 waist to a 36. A 2XL shirt to just a large. And for the most part I’ve kept it off. I weigh about 225 now days, I work out, I watch my calories, but for the most part I eat what I want and just work harder to keep it off.
I’m by no means small. No one in my family is, we’re built big with broad shoulders and often big bellies. But I can control it now. I didn’t lose weight for any other reason than for myself. I did it for my health. Anyways go read Michelle’s full post, it’s worth it.

So, I did that YMCA 1.5 mile lake swim this morning because I’m a slave to consumerism and peer pressure? FUCK ME. Or, to say it less sarcastically, MOTHERFUCKING WORD.

I need to write more about this. I’ve spent 27 of my 33 years overweight. It wasn’t until last year I decided that needed to change. You are the only person who can do that for you. It *must* come from inside. <3
