Last night Thomas Frank, author of “What’s the matter with Kansas?” and columnist for Harper’s Magazine, was on the Ed Show.
Just a few hours before he did this interview he was on the phone asking questions about issues in Kansas and discussing everything he talks about in the clip.
Believe it or not, I was the person on the other end of that phone call. Just him and I...
Internets. I have been keeping a secret from you all week. It’s the best most exciting secret ever. I know it’s a dick move on my part but it’s not by choice, I have been forbade to tell the world yet so don’t worry I’ve been keeping said secret from just about everyone I know so you’re not alone.
There is good news! After Monday night I will be able to tell...

Mayor Reardon: Let’s Get Back to Common Sense
reardonreport:
It’s been quite discouraging for us here in Wyandotte County to see the pure partisan politics of Topeka play out with respect to Congressional redistricting. The latest map to emerge is one that Senator Hensley and others warned us about months ago: To move Wyandotte County out of the 3rd Congressional District and into the 1st Congressional District. Wyandotte County, more...

I know I said I wouldn’t do this much and I will continue to try and keep that promise but we really need your help.
We are trying to generate calls into some State reps over the weekend urging them to vote no on Kansas HB 2531 which will likely be up for final action on Monday.
The Topeka Capitol Journal described House Bill 2531 which changes the process for selecting administrative law...

The difference of my productivity during the day, after taking my concerta in the morning, and my productivity at the end of the day when said concerta has run it’s course is like the difference between the conservatives in the Kansas legislature and sane/ rational people.

So, I fired off an e-mail asking P&G if they could do anything for SilverbackKS in the form of a product donation. “Even a case of travel-sized goods would go a long way.”
No dice.
P&G’s response:
We wish we could help with all the requests for assistance we receive, but we get so many,…

I work in politics. What I do sort of changes with the time of year. Sometimes it on campaigns, or lobbying, or communications strategy, or all of those at once.

Writing 2 entirely different versions of testimony using the same talking points for a bill hearing at 8:30am tomorrow while sick and being unable to breath is a special level of hell.
Having to be at the committee meeting tomorrow morning is the level immediately following it.
Of course. The week the Legislature decides to have hearings and take action on 9 of the bills I’m concerned with happens to be the same week I wake up feeling like death. Awesome.
